Roger Simon Calls Tucker Carlson’s Interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin a ‘Monument of Journalism’

Roger Simon, co-founder of PJMedia and current columnist for The Epoch Times, joined Friday’s edition of The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy to discuss Tucker Carlson’s two-hour interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Simon said he was “absolutely riveted” by the interview, adding the amount of information discussed was “impossible to digest immediately.”

“I watched last night, like most of the world, I watched the two-hour interview and I was riveted by it, absolutely riveted, because I cannot think of another time in history we’ve gotten such a close up view of a dictator live. I mean, and the kind of information you get from that is impossible to digest immediately. I mean, it’s so complex,” Simon said.

Simon added that after texting Carlson a congratulatory message on conducting the interview, Carlson responded by saying he still didn’t know what to think of the interview either.

“He was as flummoxed as we were,” Simon said.

Simon went on to compare Putin’s deliverance of information and sharpness during the interview to that of President Joe Biden – who on Thursday mistakenly referred to the president of Egypt as the president of Mexico – saying, “Can you imagine America, the idea that our president, who confuses Egypt with Mexico, could do that is beyond ludicrous and highly embarrassing,”

Regarding the interview simply taking place, Simon said it was a “monument of journalism,” adding that historians will use the interview to analyze Putin during this specific moment in time.

“I think it’s a monument of journalism because what it exposes, even if we, I don’t think we really disagree, I think essentially all matters of degree and reaction, but it’s for history. I mean, people in 10 years, 50 years from now, will be able to look at this and say, “Whoa, what was this guy who ran Russia forever like? What was he like?””

President Putin makes Biden look like an imbecile. But I must say that no one makes Biden look like an idiot more than Joe Biden. Its no wonder they didn’t want Carlson to interview him.
